Pandit Shivanth Mishra, Lecturer and Head of the Music Department at the Sanskrit University of Benares, is a master of the sitar.
Deobrat Mishra, the son of Pandit Shivanth, was honoured as India's best sitar players award of the year 1995. In the year 2000 he received SurMani ( Jewels of sound) award in Mumbay - India.
Using the sitar, an instrument steeped in the tradition of 2000 years, these two musicans evoke a mood of rapt inner contemplation which quickly casts its spell over audiences. This meditational music lives from improvisation, nethertheless, it rises to a peak of great excitement and tension.

“Father and son had an amazing connection with each other. They created an incredible cascade of sound that sent ecstatic tremors through the space and transformed the audience. It was as if they and their instruments became one. The audience gave them a standing ovation.”

Release chronic pain and tension. Unlock chronic holding patterns in your body. Increase mind-body awareness, range of motion and overall ease. Somatics is the work of Thomas Hanna, PhD, who discovered that we all hold unconscious muscle contractions which can be released quickly and easily through practicing gentle movements and by increasing mind-body awareness. These contractions, if not released, lead to pain and stiffness, postural imbalances, reduced flexibility and eventually more serious conditions like frozen shoulder, TMJ dysfunction, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, tendonitis, headaches, sacro-iliac dysfunction, bulging discs, and piriformis syndrome.
LEARN 8 SIMPLE EXERCISES AND A SHORT HOME ROUTINE TO RELIEVE YOUR TENSIONS AND KEEP YOU FEELING YOUNG AND SUPPLE.
COST: $60 if paid in full by May 10th, $70 after. Seniors 65+ and full-time students, pay $10 less.
