SOMATICS

Somatics is a gentle yet powerful movement and bodywork modality that helps to RELEASE CHRONIC PAIN AND STIFFNESS
INCREASE AWARENESS, FLEXIBILITY AND RANGE OF MOTION

CONDITIONS SOMATICS CAN HELP: low back pain, bulging discs, sacro-iliac joint subluxation, sciatica, frozen shoulder, knee pain, limping, constipation, shallow breathing, headaches, scoliosis, TMJ dysfunction, carpal tunnel syndrome, bunions, poor posture, limited flexibility, stiffness, all the “itis” family, and many other conditions that may be the result of chronic muscular contractions.

2 METHODS: SIMPLE MOVEMENT EXERCISES AND HANDS-ON SESSIONS

HOW: Through neuromuscular re-patterning, Somatics tells your brain to stop sending the repetitive unconscious messages to your muscles and they relax.

CAUSES: Unconscious tension patterns can start from physical or emotional traumas or habituated movements associated with injury, stress or aging.

MOVEMENT EXERCISES:
In Somatics workshops, you’ll learn about the causes of your pain and practice gentle floor movements that can begin to unlock your pain and stiffness in one session. In each workshop, you’ll be given a hand-out with a short home routine to help maintain the freedom you gain in the class.

HANDS-ON SESSIONS:
Sessions include education about your posture and habitual patterns, plus a series of gentle yet powerful hands-on techniques to release your chronically tight muscles.
You will be given simple movement exercises to practice at home to retain the releases and reinforce the new patterns gained during the session.

The goal is to move from dependence on a health practitioner to your own self-help program.

It is recommended that you initially commit to 4 private sessions.
Some people are satisfied with less and others need a longer treatment plan.

Fees:
    Initial session: $80 - 95 for 1.5 hours
    Follow-ups: $60 - 75 for 1 hour
